NIGERIANS STILL BREAK RECORDS?

it has been few weeks the LONDON olympics rounded up with no medals from team Nigeria and it is being estimated that over N2.2 billion was put in by the federal government for the event. The entire nation was not happy about the performance of the athletes, some blamed the federal government, others blamed the sports ministry for failing to prepare ahead of time like a developed nation will and that was why we put up such showmanship some will argue. But the story has a twist as the Paralympics which is the world's second largest international multi sport event hosted also by Britain after the just concluded Olympic games brought us something to smile about. Our very own team Nigeria broke a world record to bring home the gold medal (Yakubu Adesokan in weightlifting), as if that was enough, another of team Nigeria's, Ivory Nwokorie hijacked gold in the women's 44kg powerlifting making it two gold medals and the games are still on...who says we are not the "Giant of Africa"? Nigerians know how to bring back smile to the country and they are good in doing that just when you..... to be continued.

GREED ?

Everybody seeks power, everybody has a built in "mechanism" for leadership, they all have the monopoly of leadership skills in them. It is this reason that has held the country stagnant for over 51 years of independence since we got independence from the British. A country blessed with so much resources from the delta's have no adequate infrastructure, institutions, and electricity in the list of things to show for the wealth she possesses. Every Nigerian has in his head, even a child, what the problem of the Nigerian state is but solving them through the elites that be becomes a story that always ends up unhappy. our judiciary has failed us, corrupt elites are now being prosecuted by different countries all around the world (James Ibori, Diepreye Alamoeyeseighs...etc) we keep hoping with open arms, hoping if the same colonial masters will still come and continue from where they stopped from during the colonial days. I strongly believe that we are still where we are from our colonial days. The world is playing international politics and the idea of religion and region is our problem, what i call R^2. the Hausa man wants to rule forever, the Ijaw man wants 50% derivation..., the Igbo man wants more money not minding the dangers behind his actions, the Yoruba man is what i call "brother friendly" (monopoly of friends in a work place he overseas), and all these has so far is responsible for our woes and if adequate care is not taking, in the next 3 years...........to be continued

...AND THERE WAS NIGERIA, "THE GIANT OF AFRICA".

Nigeria which ranks as the tenth largest nation in the world, and by far the largest nation in Africa, with an estimate of 150 million people as at a time has been seen as the "Giant of Africa" because of its enormous natural mineral resources, agriculture, and not forgetting its role in international institutions. Petroleum is the leading mineral produce in Nigeria and provides about 95% of foreign exchange earnings and the minority of government revenues. It is found in the Niger Delta and in the bights of Benin and Biafra in Nigeria. Petroleum production on an appreciable scale began in the late 1950s, and by the early 1970s it was by far the leading earner of foreign exchange. Nigeria's external position is heavily influenced by developments in the internal oil market. The country is both a major exporter of crude oil and a major importer of petroleum products. Nigeria is the world's eighth largest exporter of crude oil but imports almost 90% of domestically consumed petroleum products. Except when oil prices are low, Nigeria generally earns more from exports than it spends on imports. other important exports include cocoa, rubber, and palm products. The main import are machinery, chemicals, transportation equipment, manufactured goods, food, and live animals. The United States is by far the largest trading partner, followed by China, Brazil, Spain, and Great Britain.
The growing oil industry attracted many to urban centres, to the detriment of the agricultural sector. In the 1980s a decline in world oil prices prompted the government to bolster the agricultural sector. Nonetheless, both refinery capacity and agriculture have not kept pace with population growth, forcing the nation to import refined petroleum products and food. Other minerals extracted include tin, iron ore, coal, limestone, columbite, lead, zinc, gold, and other natural resources.
Industries in Nigeria include the processing of agricultural products and minerals, and the manufacture of textiles, construction materials, chemicals, fertilizer, and steel. Fishing and forestry are also important to the economy, and there is also a small commercial shipbuilding and repair sector. in addition, traditional woven goods, pottery, metal objects, carved wood and ivory are produced. Nigeria's road and rail systems are constructed basically along north-south lines; the country's chief seaports are Lagos, Port Harcourt, Warri, and Calabar.
What is your take on these Nation? is it investment friendly as the "Giant of Africa" as it is popularly known?

HOW THE REJECTED STONE BECAME A CORNERSTONE!!!

HOW THE REJECTED STONE  BECAME A CORNERSTONE!!!

I remember vividly when PDP had their convention in Rivers State..., The president of the federal republic of Nigeria as at then Olusegun Obasanjo personally said the flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party who was Governor Chibuike Ameachi had "K-leg" in his bid to run for the post as a Governorship candidate in Rivers State under the above party. Today, president Olusegun Obasanjo sees a reason from the information getting to us to make the same Chibuike Ameachi run for the post of vice president of Nigeria come 2015 because of the change he has so far brought to the people of Rivers State. it means hard work still has a place in Nigerian politics today and corruption is not a tribal mark.

On my opinion, i dont think he has intentions of that now as the current president is from the same geopolitical region as he. what do you think?
