it has been few weeks the LONDON olympics rounded up with no medals from team Nigeria and it is being estimated that over N2.2 billion was put in by the federal government for the event. The entire nation was not happy about the performance of the athletes, some blamed the federal government, others blamed the sports ministry for failing to prepare ahead of time like a developed nation will and that was why we put up such showmanship some will argue. But the story has a twist as the Paralympics which is the world's second largest international multi sport event hosted also by Britain after the just concluded Olympic games brought us something to smile about. Our very own team Nigeria broke a world record to bring home the gold medal (Yakubu Adesokan in weightlifting), as if that was enough, another of team Nigeria's, Ivory Nwokorie hijacked gold in the women's 44kg powerlifting making it two gold medals and the games are still on...who says we are not the "Giant of Africa"? Nigerians know how to bring back smile to the country and they are good in doing that just when you..... to be continued.
